Last week our family took a trip to the state of Washington. Here are some of the highlights of our vacation.
The Seattle Science Center had some really fun things to do, including an amazing butterfly encounter along with other fun displays like the giant table and chair set you see pictured below. Andrew and I enjoyed the imax movie of the Lewis and Clark expedition while the kids chose to go to the 3D Underwater Sea Adventure. The laser show with the music of Queen in the background was really fun too.

The views from the top of the Seattle Space Needle were spectacular. We enjoyed hot carmel apple cider and vanilla bean frappacino with carmel at the very first Starbucks store.

We spent a few days in Seattle.

I was more interested in seeing the blue hydrangeas at the Seattle zoo than the animals. It was a beautiful zoo. The kids had fun just being together--this picture was taken while waiting for our harbor cruise. Jamie enjoyed touching the starfish at the aquarium.

We hiked to Merrymere Falls. It is amazingly beautiful in Washington!
The kids were excited to be at La Push Beaches.

Our hotel was right next to Forks High School, which any of you that read the book "Twilight" will understand why our girls were excited to have their picture taken here.
While waiting for a ferry the kids found some wild blackberry bushes. One night when we were in Forks, Emily found a wild blackberry bush and picked enough for me to make a cobbler. (We had a kitchen in our hotel suite.) We served it hot with vanilla ice cream. It was the best cobbler I've ever had.
Yesterday our family (minus Meagan and John) got back from a trip to Washington state. This picture shows Andrew and I in the Hall of Mosses at Hoh Rain Forest in Olympic National Park. It was a fabulous vacation.
One of the fun things we Washburn's did in July, along with going to Idaho was to go to an Angels baseball game. It was a great game with the Angels beating the Yankees. Here's a picture of Ann, Andrew, Jamie, Mandie and Christian.
